A great spot in Palm Beach Gardens, just on the border with Jupiter, Burger Bar is serving up two great experiences to customers. First, it’s an excellent bar with an even better Ladies Night (ladies drink certain drinks for free), and secondly, the handcrafted burgers created by Chef Matt Miller, who has been with Burger Bar since its inception, are intoxicating and bursting with flavor.
Self-serve yogurt spots are a dime-a-dozen in South Florida. There are many franchised brands as well as stand-alones and we can think of a dozen locations within a few mile radius. We were intrigued when walking past Eco Yogurt Lounge in Boca Raton because, unlike most yogurt spots, this location was super-trendy and modern on the inside. Our only regret was that our visit was at opening, in the daytime. As a result we weren’t able to extract the sheer beauty of the wall’s changing colors that are experienced at nighttime.
Taverna Opa has hung the window signs up and announced that they will be coming soon to a new location on East Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Delray Beach. Taking up the space that formerly occupied 75 Main, this new spot will add one more location to their three current festive, Greek-cuisine Florida restaurants.
It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon when we visited Rocco’s Tacos, located in Town Center Circle’s shopping center, not far from Glades Road. Arriving at lunchtime, we had a choice to sit inside in the dark dining room or enjoy the sunshine at one of the outdoor high tables. We chose the latter and had a wonderful Mexican meal under bright blue skies.
Happy Hour is a wonderful thing. For some, it’s a perfect time to get together with friends and/or co-workers after work to wind down. For others, it’s a time to relax and prepare for the night ahead. For us, it’s a great opportunity to score 1/2 off of drinks and appetizers at some of the area’s best restaurants. With this in mind, we headed straight to Mario’s Osteria in Boca Raton.
Tap42 had us pleasantly surprised. It’s known for its great nightlife (especially on Wednesday night, Ladies Night), but seeing and tasting their great cuisine had us confounded. How could a craft beer bar deliver such great food, too? The answer, lies with the executive chef, Andrew Balick.
From 441 east to Lyons and from Atlantic Avenue north to Boynton Beach Blvd. in Boynton Beach, residents in the area have been screaming for great places to dine. With the introduction of all of the Canyon and Valencia communities, it was only a matter of time before the surrounding area was built up to include a variety of options, but it took quite a while. In the past a 10-minute drive was necessary to have a great meal. In the Canyon Town Center, located at the corner of Lyons and Boynton Beach Blvd., a variety of restaurants have opened to serve these deserving residents. Sushi Yama is one that is a favorite in the area.
Of the four South Florida locations of Lemongrass Asian Bistro, this Delray Beach spot may be our favorite. Capturing the energy and the vibe of Atlantic Avenue, sitting outside is a completely different experience than dining inside or at the sushi bar. Under a covered awning, we’ll always choose to sit outside and dine al fresco.
The Grind Cafe, located at the Delray Marketplace on Atlantic Avenue, is set to expand its daily offerings with a new, full service breakfast menu, beginning on October 15th.
We were really hoping to enjoy Oceans 234 as much as we had expected. It has so much going for it; a beautiful spot just on the ocean, a wonderful sitting area under a covered awning and drinks from the bar. So what could go wrong? If you were a member of our party, just about everything.
