If you can wait until April, 2015, then you’ll be swimming in baked goods if you frequent the Royal Palm Beach area. Jupiter Donut Factory, the wildly successful (and yummy) donut shop that is now located only in Jupiter is hoping to throw open their new doors in just a few months’ time to expand their brand southward.
A new healthy option is coming to Boca Raton in
late August September. To be located in Palms Plaza, at the southwest corner of Powerline Road and Palmetto Park Road, Apura Juicery & Coffeehouse will be serving cold-pressed juices, cold-brewed coffee, handmade nut “mylks” and more.
Among all of the new openings recently in South Florida, one that really whets our appetites is Rhino Doughnuts & Coffee in Lauderdale By The Sea. Located on Commercial Boulevard, this trendy and modern donut shop is like nothing in the area. While most donut shops look as though they haven’t changed for the past 30 years, the decor and vibe at Rhino is showing that they know how to keep up with the times. Having amazing donuts doesn’t hurt, either.
Passing by the new location for Trader Joe’s in Wellington, located on State Rd. 7 in the Village Green Center, we noticed that they are making their final adjustments in preparation for their opening on May 16, 2014.
Update: The new location will be in the new Trader Joe’s shopping center on 441.
Details are scant at this moment, but we’ve been alerted to the news that Flakowitz Bakery and Restaurant, known for its wide selection of baked goods, bagels and other great breakfast specials will be opening a new, third location in Wellington.
Samara Supermarket, a (somewhat hidden) treasure trove of Middle Eastern ingredients and various other wares has recently received their permit to build a bakery section within their store, located on N. Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach. Up until this point, the year-old store has been sticking to pre-packaged goods but with permission to open things up, we should expect a wonderful selection of freshly baked goods to go.
TooJay’s Gourmet Deli’s seem to be everywhere in South Florida. Within a 30-minute radius there are 10+ to choose from, so no matter what county you live in, you’ll never be far away. Started back in 1981 in Palm Beach, TooJay’s takes the “Jay” from both of the co-founders’ names (Jay Katzenberg and Jay Brown). The TooJay’s that we recently visited is located in the Polo Club Shoppes in Boca Raton just near the ritzy Polo Club residences.
If you told us that Jupiter Donut Factory in Jupiter has only been around for about two years, we’d think that you were pulling our leg. Regarded highly by most South Floridians (we were literally pointed there by a few of them), they’re known for their long lines, super fresh donuts and the fact that they only stay open until they run out of product. Florida, you’d better wake up early if you’re planning on enjoying some finely baked goods.
The Grind Cafe, located at the Delray Marketplace on Atlantic Avenue, is set to expand its daily offerings with a new, full service breakfast menu, beginning on October 15th.
Healthier options are not always available these days. If you’re on a particular diet or are just watching the calories, most restaurants won’t cater to your every need. That’s where Fit Foodz Cafe is stepping up their game and offering a tasty outlet for this segment of the dining population that is looking to skip the fast food outlets.
